A Letter From Remy

Hey everyone,

Thanks for welcoming me back so warmly. I had decided to let go of social media during my time at seminary, and that included the podcast.

However, you guys kept asking me about it, and kept asking for new episodes. So, after speaking with my wife and giving it some prayerful consideration, I decided I would start the podcast again.

Except I never wanted it to be a podcast. I wanted it to be so much more! I had plans for articles, Q&A, video content, courses, even the whole Book of Concord!

The problem here is two-fold: Time & Money. I only have so much of either to go around, and the more that's added on to the idea of Lutheran Answers, the more that's required of both.

As far as times goes, I'll just have to figure that out as I go along - though I foresee myself missing sleep lol.

And as for the money, I'm trying to figure out the best way to support the podcast monetarily such that it isn't a burden on either you or me.

What does that look like? Advertisements? Subscriptions? Sponsorships? Merchandise? I am not sure those will work. I've considered all of these things pretty seriously, and there are fair ways to do all of it, but I ultimately worry about making merchandise of the faith (one of them quite literally). That's something I sincerely want to avoid.

I spent some time in thought and prayerfully considered my options, and I've decided that, for now, the best way I can let you all help Lutheran Answers is by giving you a simple little donate link to click:

It's a set-your-own-price donation model so you can give as much or as little as you want - no pressure! Full transparency: There is a minimum of $1.50 so I can at least cover your transaction cost (there is also technically a maximum, but I doubt we'll see it).

By asking for donations I'm hoping that I will be able to generate enough revenue to cover the cost of production for Lutheran Answers without making merchandise of the faith. By having a donation model I'm also able to release all future content for free!

The original plan had been to have a membership system in place that, for a fair price, gave you access to tons of exclusive content. But if I'm able to cover production costs with donations, then I won't need to charge for any content, which will allow us to reach more people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

What's Needed Today

My needs right now are pretty minimal, but as things ramp up and I start creating content, the financial need will also increase.

In the immediate I only about $35. This money is to cover uploading all the episodes to Buzzsprout (who, themselves, have graciously given me a credit to cover some of the migration cost).

I've already put about $200 of my own money into getting this going again, so please don't think I'm asking you to give so that I don't have to! I have not only put my own money into this, I will continue to do so and have made a line item for it in my personal budget.

What's Coming Up

Once the immediate need is met I will start putting other money towards covering some anticipated upcoming expenses related to producing new content for Lutheran Answers.

As I get back into podcast recording, and start video and course production, I will need to purchase (lease, lets be honest) some software to the tune of about $800 per year.

This includes products like Riverside to record interviews as well as Adobe Audition and Adobe Premier.

So, with all that said I would greatly appreciate it if you donate. And if you do not, that's fine too. I'm just going to trust that God will open the way for this to work out.
